OK NOW after doing some work to the car and checking the spring rates and and discussing them with maximum , maximum says apex had on the complete wrong spring rates for me!!! they were to short (thats why it was so slammed!!!) and to soft so now im going to a strange set up , still coil overs but the RIGHT set up... Also i needed to upgraded to a new 26 input shaft and clutch since the stock shaft will not be able to handle all my power!!!

Not
It was designed to be a road racer not a 1320 machine.

Yes the STOCK IRS sucks.
Who is stock these days?
Folks who sell products like a solid axle set-up just want your money.
Griggs tried to pimp one on me.
You lose weight with live axle. Handling unless the track is flat as a pancake goes to IRS.
Have you ever taken a geometry course?
IRS stays more correct then old school solid axle.
Fast cars from whatever country of origin do not have solid axle.

The Cobra IRS from the factory is not that bad.... it just wasn't designed for hard launches off the line with tons of HP/ TQ. With some upgrades the stock IRS is pretty good. The IRS is much more of a "driver's/ road course" suspension than for all out drag. Almost every great performance car (Porsche, BMW, Lambo, Ferrari) these days uses a IRS.. so why doesn't Ford do it? COST.. it all comes down to COST... the savings to produce a good IRS would only add about $100-$200 per vehicle BUT x 120,000 cars and its alot of money saved by Ford...
The solid axle for the Mustang on the other hand is good for the Mustang when setup properly. Motor Trend called a Vortech'd Griggs Equipped Mustang the best handling Mustang they've ever driven back in about 2000 and ALOT of the media have said the Parnelli Jones Saleen Mustang is the best handling Mustang ever made with a Watts link in the rear end. Since the solid Axle has been around for so long many companies make good products to improve it including Griggs, Maximum, Saleen, Evolution Motorsports, Steeda, etc.

I swore i was going to stick to the irs and get the level 5 axels to go with the upgrades i had already made to the irs. But with the way i will prob drive my car the solid will hold up better and the car will still be able to handle, I just wont have that great irs feel. but yeah i will def miss the irs!!! like i said i swore againts doing the swap for so long not to mention verts hop a whole lot more than the coupes so wheel hop would have been a big issue should i have stuck with the irs. to each his own.. :patriot:

It almost makes sense for you to do a swap because you like 1320's.
I remember how much wheel-hop you have/had.

The floor pan has to be hacked to complement the rest of the GR-40 set-up.
Like in your case I would rather buy I car that is already done so I don't feel the pain of a cutting torch nailing the floor board.
nah i already did that to my 86, have pics of it torn apart, but i didnt want to do that to a orange Cobra... I'll leave it mostly stock and build another street toy.

your port is sold and Shaun has one for sale? I'd consider getting one if it was cheap enough. I paid 5 bills for my last one.

That would work! I have a BF TB and inlet brand new in a box that I haven't put on yet, so I would only want the charger... If you can't sell it to this other dude, let me know...:hi:
Oh and I'd want the pulley too if it is black.

MAn i dont have any new pics ... And i already dropped it off with jeff (only had it for 48hrs hahah) for the tune. BUt man the cage came out so sick!!! The custom work was well worth it!!! Drew's cage guy did an amazing job imo.
ANd the work Drew did was great! He finished on time ( i lagged on getting the car to him when i dropped it offf originally) and man did he do a fine job! I really recomend AED if you want to get any work done! when i find the good shops I stand by them and recomend their services. AED is one of one or 2 others I recomend along with Elliott!! So if you want to upgrade Give the guys a call!!!
They are great to work with by the way! and they really really know how to build cars!! the knowledge Drew, Shawn , & Jeff have is amazing.
They also take the time to listen to what you want and to answer any and all questions you may have. Or if you want to just take them your ride and say do your magic, that is another great option and AED is prob the only place right now that i would actually let do that. so when i need a motor im just going to tell them do you thang haha
As far as how the car feels or whatnot..... I only drove it the night i picked it up i drove it 2 blocks and then from my house to AED's shop w/ the dyno by Santa Clara Univ yesteday and man i love the way ithe car feels so far!!! the suspension feels amazing! The throttle response was crazy! i cant wait till it is tuned!!!!!!!!! Its
